NOTES FROM MR. CRAWFORD
MIDDLE SCHOOL EXAMS APPROACHING!
The second trimester examination period will be held on February 11 - 12 for all core subjects except Spanish. These will be traditional assessments that are 1 ½ hour in length.
The Spanish assessment for all three grades will be given during the regular class period in two parts. Part one is the oral assessment, given on Monday, February 8th and Tuesday February 9th. Students should come prepared both days. Part two, the written exam, (55 minutes in length) will be administered in class on Wednesday, February 10th.

6TH GRADE NEWS
6th Grade English Language Arts with Mrs. Guggenheim
Lit - We have finished The Giver and are preparing for the end of the book test on 2/2. We will also be working on our Utopia Project with a partner. It is due 2/4.
READING LOG minutes!
6th Math with Mrs. Reardon
Next week in 6th grade math we will continue in chapter 7 by simplifying expressions and solving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division equations. On Thursday, we will review for the quiz over 7.2-7.4 that will take place on Friday, February 5.
6th-7th Pre-Algebra with Mr. Lanfear
Next week in Pre-Algebra, we will complete Chapter 6 with a day of review on Tuesday and the test on Wednesday. After that, we will begin review for the 2nd Trimester exams.
6th Earth Science with Mrs. Reardon
Next week in Earth Science we will continue discussing longitude and latitude as well as Greenwich Mean Time and time zones. Students will be able to locate cities and landmarks by using longitude and latitude. There will be a quiz over what we’ve learned in class on Friday, February 5.
6th Earth Science with Mrs. Huennekens
We have started a brief study of latitude and longitude. There will be quiz on Friday, February 5th. We will then begin our review of the second trimester. The exam will cover only the second trimester material.
6th Spanish with Ms. Sotomayor
I have enjoyed reading and even seeing the scripts come to life for last week’s project, “Paper Man Spanish Script”. What creative students we have! Next week, we will continue to explore the many practical uses of phrases with the verb “Tener” as well as expressing likes and dislikes in Spanish. IMPORTANT DATES: February 8th and 9th (Monday and Tuesday) will be the oral portion of the final exam while Wednesday, February 10th, will be the written portion.
6th Ancient Civilizations with Mrs. Hannah
Because sixth grade has been working so diligently on the China research project, I want students to be able to finish without rushing. Students can still turn their project in Friday if they have finished and have met the requirements listed in the rubric. However, students can choose to work over the weekend to create the tri-fold presentation and turn in the final product Monday morning. Since everything should be typed and printed by the end of class Friday, putting the information onto the tri-fold should require minimal time at home! Please let me know if you have any questions.
We will be sharing our projects with the class at the beginning of next week, then beginning to review for our second trimester exam. I will return all student work by the middle of next week, and we will identify major topics that will be on the exam. We will also discuss study methods and planning strategies to ensure success! The Ancient Civ exam will take place on Thursday 11 February.
7TH GRADE NEWS
7th Grade English Language Arts with Mrs. Hannah
Seventh grade has been working so diligently on their propaganda videos, and I want to give them more time to edit and finalize. I am so excited with the progress I have seen so far, and I want to make sure students are comfortable with the editing process. I already have students who have completed the video and shared the final product with me. However, we will have one final day to film and edit on Friday. Students can choose to share the video with me Friday, or they can choose to make final changes over the weekend. The final edit of your video must be finished, published, and shared with me by 8:15 Monday morning! Let me know if you have any questions.
We will discuss chapter 10 of Animal Farm on Monday, and have a quiz over chapters 8-10 on Tuesday. The novel test will be on Thursday 4 February, and we will begin reviewing for exams on Friday. The ELA exam will take place on Friday 12 February.
7th-8th Algebra I with Mrs. Reardon
Next week in Algebra we will wrap up Chapter 7 by solving special types of linear systems and inequalities (yes, we will be shading graphs again!). We will review for the Chapter 7 test on Wednesday and Thursday and take the Chapter 7 test on Friday, February 5.
6th-7th Grade Pre-Algebra with Mr. Lanfear
Next week in Pre-Algebra, we will complete Chapter 6 with a day of review on Tuesday and the test on Wednesday. After that, we will begin review for the 2nd Trimester exams.
7th Grade Life Science with Mrs. Huennekens
We are now studying mollusks. There will be a quiz on Friday, February 5th. We will be reviewing for our second trimester exams.

7th Spanish with Ms. Hughes
Next week in Spanish class, the 7th grade will begin to review for the trimester exam. The exam will have three parts: speaking, listening, and writing. Students should begin preparing for the exam by organizing their binders and looking over old test and quizzes from Chapter 6A-Chapter 7B.
7th American History Part I with Mrs. English
This week students will continue studying Ch. 7.2 and the American government formed by the Founding Fathers and the Constitution. We will have a Chapter 7.1 & 2 Quest (small test) on Wednesday. We will devote the rest of the week reviewing for the exam.
8TH GRADE NEWS
8th Grade English Language Arts with Mrs. O'Connor
The eighth graders have finished reading Night, and at this time students are editing rough drafts of their essays and preparing for Tuesday’s test over the memoir. Final drafts of Night essays are due on Thursday (2/4). Students have already received material to help guide their review as they prepare for our trimester exam. After the Night test we will devote significant class time to reviewing some key concepts that students will need to know. As always, I’m happy to work with students before or after school if they need any additional help.
7th-8th Algebra I with Mrs. Reardon
Next week in Algebra we will wrap up Chapter 7 by solving special types of linear systems and inequalities (yes, we will be shading graphs again!). We will review for the Chapter 7 test on Wednesday and Thursday and take the Chapter 7 test on Friday, February 5.
8th Advanced Algebra with Mr. Lanfear
Next week in Advanced Algebra, we will complete discovering the area formulas for polygons and have a test covering most of Chapter 8 (8.1 - 8.6) on Wednesday. After that, we will begin reviewing for the 2nd Trimester exams.
8th Geometry with Mr. Lanfear
Next week in Geometry, we will be reviewing for the 2nd Trimester exams.
8th Grade Physical Science with Mrs. Huennekens
This week and next, will begin exploring topics that are related to Physics. We will also be reviewing for our second trimester exams. The exam will only cover material studied during the second trimester.

8th American History Part II with Mrs. English
This week we will watch our silent films on Monday and finish up the trimester with a Geography Test on Thursday (Europe, Middle East, and East Asia). The rest of the week will be devoted to reviewing for the trimester exam.
Science Club: This week in Science Club, the students made BLOBS in a BOTTLE! They had a lot of fun! 
The 7th Grade’s STOMP Musical was a huge hit!
