6th Grade Spanish- Ms. Sotomayor, week of April 24th
The countdown begins! Only a few weeks left of school and we are definitely trying to make the most of it. The students started a new vocabulary unit this week, “The Community”. This vocab was copied from a workbook we keep in class. We also left off with a suspenseful cliff-hanger after reading action-packed chapters 5 and 6 of our “Piratas Del Caribe” novel. Next week is a bit unorthodox for us, but we will have an open-notebook vocab quiz on Tuesday, the 25th, where students will decipher how best to use the vocab in context, and then a test on that exact same vocab, plus chapters 5 and 6 of “Piratas del Caribe” on Friday, the 28th. Students will have a chance to review their quiz on Wednesday to have time to see where improvement in vocab understanding is needed before the test. The good news is that with this pacing, students will have finally knocked out their last test in Spanish for the year! That will leave us with only one other quiz in May (posted already in Google Classroom for your convenience) and a project-style assessment in lieu of the more traditional exam that was given last trimester. Details for this assessment to come soon.

TIME MARCHES ON!
It is hard to believe that we are within sight of the end of our school year. With the passage of time the middle school students have physically grown significantly. Recognizing that no family wants to invest in new uniform clothing at this point in the year, please be mindful of how your child’s uniforms fits. The same holds for school dress down days. The length and coverage of dress down clothing should be the same as a uniform. Thank you for your support!
