WORDS FROM THE MIDDLE SCHOOL HEAD

We’re Open!
The first week at HDS went very smoothly.  On Monday, we welcomed a talented 6th grade and several new 7th grade students to the Middle School.  On Tuesday the whole school “moved in” for the year.  It has been a busy and tiring week.  I am sure everyone is ready for their first weekend break.

A busy week is in store for the Middle School!
Tuesday from 4:00 – 6:00, we are hosting a Meet the Teacher’s afternoon.  The afternoon will be broken into two parts.  From 4:00 – 4:30 (approximately) we will meet as a group to welcome everyone and go over what is happening at the Middle School this year.  Part of this time will be used to explain opportunities that will be offered to students during the time labeled as “Enrichment” (10:30 – 11:00) on their schedules.  After this session, teachers will be in their classrooms until 6:00 to answer questions regarding specific courses.  We hope to see everyone on Tuesday!

Our volleyball team will open its season on Tuesday evening at 5:00 with a second match to follow at 7:00.  After our Meet the Teacher’s Night support the Eagles!

Words from the Athletic Director

Hello Eagle Nation and welcome back to HDS. It’s a busy time around campus with all the students, faculty, and staff getting in the groove of another school year. Speaking of busy, our athletic teams have been working hard since July preparing for the upcoming seasons. Our football team, led by Head Coach David Gilpin, will begin their season Thursday,  September  4th at SCPS, 5:30. Mark your calendars: Homecoming 2014 will be October 9th, 5:30 at Bible Baptist.

Our Lady Eagles Volleyball Team has been hard at work since mid-July preparing for the upcoming season. Our Varsity team is led by Coach O’Hayer again this year. Please come out and support our Lady Eagles- our first home match is Tuesday August 26th. We have 2 matches that night, 5:00 and 7:00 pm. We also have Cross Country this fall. Coach Jenkner will lead our Running Eagles again this year. Their first meet is September 11th at SCD, 4pm. We will also have Flag Football this fall. Last year, our first year playing, we lost in the city championship. The schedule is not finalized yet. Keep an eye out for more Flag Football news. Please refer to the HDS website for all schedules.
