NOTES FROM MR. CRAWFORD
Homecoming
We are looking forward to a gala celebration on our campus to celebrate our Homecoming Week and football game. Due to the excitement surrounding the game, it has been moved to Optimist Field at Daffin Park. This provides us a much better spectator venue. Kickoff is set for 5:00. After the game, return to the HDS campus for GREAT FOOD, GAMES AND MUSIC! The Middle School is NOT scheduling any homework for that evening. To catch up, some assessments will be given on Monday, October 16th.
Conferences
Please look for a link to PTC Wizard to schedule your student-involved conference. These conferences should be scheduled with your child’s homeroom teacher/advisor only and will take place on Thursday, October 19th. This year, students are expected to attend the conference with you as they will have an opportunity to share some samples of their work and reflect on their academic progress to date. Due to the number of students our middle school teachers see each day, if you would like to conference with a teacher other than your child’s homeroom teacher, please email that teacher directly to set up a time.
Community Service
Please remember that students should complete ten hours of community service each school year. Service opportunities are advertised in the blog weekly. Additionally, if you know of any service opportunities that would be appropriate for our students, please feel free to send them to Ms. Ross so that they may be included here.
Completed service hours should be documented on the Community Service Form and submitted to your child’s homeroom teacher.
Brown Bag for the Elderly at Second Harvest Food Bank
Students and families can volunteer on the third Saturday morning of each month. Upcoming date is October 21st. Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes and arrive by 7:45am. Those wishing to volunteer should contact volunteer coordinator Jason Brown (jbrown@helpendhunger.org) in advance.
