This counts as a project grade. The grading scale is written in the syllabus. Reading log minutes for 6th grade are due Wednesday, February 21.

TEST: This test on Wednesday Dec. 13 will fall on the same day as their science unit test, but we will have ample review Monday and Tuesday in class. There are quizlets up to help them study. It would be extremely helpful for them to break up their studying over several nights and to use the Quizlets I have posted.
EXTRA HELP: Every Wednesday and Friday morning before school I’ll be doing extra help sessions to reinforce what we are covering, any students who feel they could use the additional support are welcome to come. I also hold study sessions the morning before any assessment.

CLUBS
Science Club
For science club this week, we tested the infamous experiment…”Mentos and Diet Coke.” We, however, used Diet Pepsi (it was on sale). First, the students decided what variables they wanted to test and then what results they were going to measure. Some of the experiments we conducted included looking for the height of the foam spray when seven Mentos (the optimum number according to multiple internet sources) were dropped into the bottle while comparing warm vs cold and caffeine free vs regular. The warm and regular produced the highest spray. Then students changed the number of Mentos used and, as predicted, as the number of Mentos increased so did the height of the spray. We had a lot of fun and the students did a great job, not only participating, but also, helping me clean up.
